About Scrap
Scrap consists of recyclable materials left over from product manufacturing and consumption, such as parts of vehicles, building supplies, and surplus materials. Unlike waste, scrap has monetary value, especially recovered metals, and non-metallic materials are also recovered for recycling.
According to research conducted by the US Environmental Protection Agency, recycling scrap metals can be quite beneficial to the environment. Using recycled scrap metal in place of virgin iron ore can yield:
- 75% savings in energy.
- 90% savings in raw materials used.
- 86% reduction in air pollution.
- 40% reduction in water use.
- 76% reduction in water pollution.
- 97% reduction in mining wastes.
Every ton of new steel made from scrap steel saves:
- 1,115 kg of iron ore.
- 625 kg of coal.
- 53 kg of limestone.

Properties of Aluminium

ALUMINIUM COPPER RADIATORS
- Shall consist of clean aluminium and copper radiators/aluminium fins on copper tubing
- Must be free of brass tubing, iron, and other foreign contamination.
- EXAMPLE: radiators in air conditioners and refrigeration

2. TALC
ALUMINIUM CAN SCRAP
- Shall consist of old aluminium food and beverage cans.
- Must be free of other scrap metals, foil, plastic, paper, glass and other non-metallic.
- EXAMPLE: food cans, beverage cans
- KNOWN AS: Al Cans / UBC
3. TRUMP
MIXED ALUMINIUM CASTING
- All clean aluminium castings (auto and airplane castings).
- Must be free of iron, brass, dirt, oil, grease and other non-metallic items.
- EXAMPLE: engine applications in cars, trucks, airplanes

4. TOTO
ALUMINIUM EXTRUSION
- Shall consist of new products and used aluminium extrusions.
- Must be free of zinc corners, iron attachments, felt, plastic, paper, cardboard, thermo break and other contaminants.

5. TESLA
ALUMINIUM FOIL
- Shall consist of household aluminium foil.
- May contain max 5% organic residue.
- Must be free from iron, paper, plastic and other non-metallic components.
- EXAMPLE: foil wrappings, food trays
- KNOWN AS: Al Foil
6. TABLET
ALUMINIUM LITHOGRAPHIC SHEET
- This is a clean alloy.
- Must be free of paper, plastic, excessive ink and other contaminants
- EXAMPLE: Printer sheets
- KNOWN AS: Al Litho
7. TROMA
ALUMINIUM AUTO OR TRUCK WHEEL
- Shall consist of clean, single piece, un-plated aluminium wheels.
- Must be free of all inserts, steel, wheel weights, valve stems, tires, grease, oil and other
- non-metallic items.
- EXAMPLE: rims of cars/trucks
- KNOWN AS: Al Mag Rims
8. TAINT/TABOR
MIXED OLD ALLOY SHEET ALUMINIUM
- Shall consist of clean mixed old aluminium sheet of two or more alloys.
- Must be free of castings, food or beverage cans, bottle caps, plastic, dirt and other
- non-metallic items.
- EXAMPLE: baseball bats, cookware siding, deodorant bottles
- KNOWN AS: Al OR
9. TARRY A
ALUMINIUM PISTONS
- Shall consist of clean aluminium pistons.
- Must be free from struts, bushings, shafts, iron rings and non-metallic items.
- Oil and grease not exceeding 2%
- EXAMPLE: transportation pistons (cars, trucks, buses, aircraft, ships, trains)
- KNOWN AS: Al Piston
10. TALLY
ALUMINIUM RADIATORS
- Shall consist of clean aluminium radiators and/or condensers.
- Must be free of all other types of radiators.
- Iron, plastic, and foam not exceeding 1%
- EXAMPLE: Automobile radiators
- KNOWN AS: Al Rad
11. TALON/TASTE
ALUMINIUM WIRES AND CABLES
- TALON: Shall consist of new, clean, unalloyed aluminium wire and cable.
- TASTE: Shall consist of old, unalloyed aluminium wire and cable.
- Must be free from hair wire, wire screen, iron, insulation and other non-metallic items.
- EXAMPLE: Electrical transmission lines
- KNOWN AS: Al Wire
12. TELC
ALUMINIUM BORINGS AND TURNINGS
- Shall consist of clean, un-corroded aluminium borings and turnings of two or more alloys.
- Must be free of dirt, oil, iron and non-metallic items.
